Music occupies a central role in worship at AIC. We love to sing hymns and songs, led by the enthusiastic voices of our choir and various combinations of instruments. Our music is stylistically very broad and inclusive, from classical and traditional church music to gospel, jazz, folk and music from many different countries and traditions.
The choir, which is open to anyone, includes a professional singer in each section who acts as a supportive section leader as well as an occasional soloist. In addition to leading the singing, the choir performs larger pieces throughout the year with orchestras or bands: classical cantatas, oratorios, and requiems, jazz masses, gospel music programmes, and more. In recent years, we have performed several Bach cantatas, Haydn’s Nelson mass, and Handel’s Messiah.
Instrumentalists are also welcomed. We sometimes have a band with guitar and drums, or violin, flute, and other instruments to accompany various pieces.
