Children & Youth

Our children and youth are full participants in the life of the church.

Children are present in our worship services so that they can learn the traditions and rhythms of faith, and they also have spaces to learn with their peers and build friendships.

Regardless of age, our philosophy is to provide children and youth with spaces to explore faith with curiosity and imagination, embracing their questions, and modelling faith by caring adults.

We aim to create safe spaces at AIC and we take seriously our calling to safeguard children. All volunteers and staff go through a safer recruitment process and work in pairs. Our safeguarding policy is available under Policies, Reports & More.

Ages 0-4

Our crèche welcomes our youngest members every Sunday during the worship service with paid professional staff.

In addition, we host occasional gatherings for parents, either for breakfast before worship or outside of Sunday mornings.

Ages 4-10

Children’s Sunday School takes place during our worship service at 11:00 a.m. with a Bible-focused lesson and a craft or activity. Children begin worship in the sanctuary, leaving after a children’s sermon, and returning by the conclusion of the service.

On the first Sunday of each month, children remain with their families in the sanctuary to participate in communion and worship as they grow in faith.

Youth 11+

Our youth gather monthly for an event that varies between Bible study, fellowship & fun, and community service. We normally meet after worship for lunch and an outing.

Youth 14+

Our older students can choose to participate in “Become,” our customizable growth experience that culminates in confirmation, believer’s baptism, or affirmation of faith. This cohort can be joined on a rolling basis and can be adapted to your family’s traditions and the youth’s interests. Meetings are typically once each month, either online or in person.
