Refugee Support

Supporting refugees and asylum seekers to build independence and form community

Refugee Befriending Program

We join with local partners to create spaces of genuine belonging for refugees and asylum seekers in London.

The Refugee Befriending Program initially began through generous funding from Camden Giving’s Equality Fund. It exists to foster opportunities for integration, community building, and cultural understanding/exchange through events hosted at AIC.

Supper Club

Our Supper Club in partnership with HostNation launched in the summer of 2023, and now dinner events are organised every few months. They are put on through collaborative efforts between HostNation, dedicated volunteers, and community sponsors/organisations.

Art Classes

We partner with Engage Here to deliver fun and collaborative art workshops each month. These classes are for community members ages 13+ and are open to any creativity or ability level. We were able to start the project through the generous support of Camden Giving, and are able to continue providing workshops through support from Camden Council.

Language Exchange

Our newest project is an English/Arabic Language Exchange fully supported by Camden Council. It is for younger people and is in partnership with the Arabic Language instructor at the American School in London. The aim is that students can both practice their language skills and make new friends through this exchange.

West End Welcome
Resettlement Support

Following the government’s commitment to resettle refugees through a community-led sponsorship scheme, we launched West End Welcome in 2018. In partnership with Bloomsbury Baptist Church and the Westminster Quaker Meeting, we have supported and sponsored refugees from Syria, Afghanistan, and Ukraine, helping them adjust to life in London.
